Anne Nuss

Anne joined the Circle of Life Coalition when the organization was known as the Berks End of Life Care Coalition, and served as Board Secretary for the first 5 years after the Coalition’s name was changed and it was established as a non-profit.  Anne is retired from a 27 year career in medical social work, most recently at Reading Health System’s McGlinn Cancer Center.  Serving patients and families in acute care, rehabilitation, outpatient cancer care, and support groups provided valuable insight and confirmation of Anne’s concern for quality of life at all stages.

Anne feels fortunate to have grown up in a family that recognized death as part of the “circle” of life, and believed in the importance of caring for each other to promote the celebration of life not only at birth, but throughout the whole life span.

Holistic assessment, assistance with problem-solving and decision-making during illness presents valuable opportunities to identify needs and plan ahead.  Patients and families learn to pay attention to what matters most.  Those who survive serious illness are much more likely to appreciate each day.  Those whose disease is not curable can still benefit from the comfort of loving, supportive care.
